EFTA Court advisory opinion published
Today the EFTA Court published an advisory opinion on a lawsuit filed against Íslandsbanki hf. before the District Court of Reykjavík. The issue under consideration by the Court is whether a price indexation clause in a bond issued in connection with a real estate purchase can be considered unfair contractual terms and can therefore be set aside in the sense of Article 36, Items (a)-(c) of the Act on Contracts, Agency and Void Legal Instruments, no. 7/1936, with subsequent amendments.

Beginning in September 2014, Statistics Iceland and the Central Bank of Iceland will publish new statistics for external trade in goods and services, balance of payments, and national accounts in accordance with updated international standards.

The survey was carried out for the eleventh time during the period 11-13 August 2014. A total of 31 agents in the bond market, including banks, pension funds, mutual and investment funds, securities brokers, and licensed asset management firms were invited to participate. Responses were received from 19 market participants, giving a response ratio of 61%.
