Economic Indicators 28 June 2019
The Central Bank of Iceland’s Economic Indicators report for June 2019 has been released and can be found here on the Bank’s website. The publication contains information on developments in prices, output, external trade, the labour market, public sector finances, asset markets, and the financial market. The information is published in chart form, and underlying data can be called up in spreadsheet format.

The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Central Bank of Iceland has decided to lower the Bank’s interest rates by 0.25 percentage points. The Bank’s key interest rate – the rate on seven-day term deposits – will therefore be 3.75%.

The Bank will publish the Monetary Policy Committee’s (MPC) interest rate decision on its website tomorrow 26 June 2019 at 08:55. At 10:00, a press conference will begin where Már Gudmundsson, Governor and Chair of the MPC, and Rannveig Sigurdardottir Deputy Governor and member of the MPC, will explain the rationale behind the Committee’s decision.

On the occasion of the 100 year anniversary of the first novel of Halldór Kiljan Laxness, Child of Nature, a special exhibition of items relating to Nobel laureate, including the Nobel medal, will be on display in the Central Bank and National Museum numismatic collection at Kalkofnsvegur between 14:00 and 18:00 on the National Day of Iceland on 17 June. A gold bar of the type held in the Bank‘s gold reserves will also be on display as well as a selection of paintings owned by the Bank.
